On Sunday 7 August the club launched it's fundraising initiative 'Friends of Aughnamullen' at the Social Centre. This was preceded by a great evening's entertainment with matches between Under 8s and Under 10s and a tug of war competition.  Everyone then retired indoors for some refreshments.

Tony Ward (Treasurer) thanked everyone for their ongoing commitment to and support of the club and for the many people who give their time week in, week out and all those who have volunteered over the years. Whereas the club has excellent facilities the reality is that fundraising has to be undertaken each year to cover the operating costs.

The club hopes that Friends of Aughnamullen will be an ongoing source of funds and reduce the need to come up with new fundraising ideas every year.  The club are also particularly interested in attracting the support of parishioners who now live elsewhere but who often return and/or have a great sense of belonging to the parish.
